Weta
Classification
Weta are the biggest insects in New Zealand. There are over 70 types of Weta but they are nearly extinct! They look quite like a cricket with there big massive back legs. They can jump very high with there legs.
Description
They Giant Weta can weight up to 70g, a small rat. They are very camouflage, they have no nose and 4 ears two o each front leg. They can be different colors, the Cave Weta is red and black. Wow, they can grow up to 100mm long, that's pretty long for a bug.
Habitat
There are a lot of different types of Weta, so they all like to live in different habitats. The Cave Weta lives in caves. Tree Weta live on trees, so they do not come on the ground much at all. There eggs need to hatch in a most places.
Dynamics
This is crazy but the Tusked Weta can stay under water to hide for 10 minutes. The Weta can lay up to 300 eggs in it's life. They do big poos which helps the environment. they are very camouflage and can hide very well. It would be hard to play hide and seek with them.
